Teacher Says She Has Mystery Reader For Boys Last Day, But He Has No Clue Its Air Force Dad

It was Owen Salotti’s last day at Arrowhead Elementary School in Methacton, Pennsylvania, so his teacher and classmates wanted to do something special for the young boy. With a handwritten sign on the board that read “We love you, Owen!” his teacher announced that, to honor the occasion, they would be welcoming a “mystery reader” to the class.

Of course, this wasn’t just any “mystery reader.”

In fact, United States Air Force Major John Salotti was behind the scenes, waiting for his moment to surprise his beloved son, Owen.

The Major had just returned from a deployment in Kuwait, and was eager to surprise his young son, who had no idea.

Once the teacher introduced him, the Major walked into the room, unable to contain his enormous smile.

And, in true “like-father-like-son” fashion, Owen took one look at his dad and matched his smile, unable to cover it with a water bottle.

Shyly, he muttered “Hi, Dad!” but from the reddening in his face you could tell he just wanted to run and greet his dad.

He got the chance to, too, as his dad came over and lifted him up in a huge hug, with his classmates happily watching and applauding.

A beautiful moment is when Dad sets Owen back down, and in no time the little boy is already collapsing back into his beloved dad’s arms.
